Justice League 2026 Roster Adds Supervillains After DC K O. Event
This new Justice League will offer every hero in the DC Universe membership in the team, which means there are endless possibilities for its lineup. At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, DC Comics announced Justice League Unlimited, a new ongoing series written by Mark Waid and drawn by Dan Mora. I just can't believe some of the heroes that are included on these variant covers for Justice League Unlimited #1. Now, a better look at the team's brand-new roster has been revealed thanks to new art, and by the looks of it, this roster is proving to be the Justice League's most ambitious yet. Cancellations are accepted prior to the pre-order cut-off date. Orders will ship shortly after release once received from the distributor.

Tom Jorgensen of IGN gave the film an 8 out of 10 rating, calling it a "vindication" for Snyder's vision, and like Seitz, maintained the extended runtime allowed for further development of its lore and characters. Matt Zoller Seitz from RogerEbert.com, who gave it a 3.5 out of 4, felt the film was superior to the theatrical version, and described Snyder's vision as being a "brazen auteurist vision." Though he felt many scenes were protracted, he also felt it was used to improve characterization and create a "sense of space and place." However, Total Film reported that critical response to the film was mixed, with critics being "divided" on whether or not it was superior to the theatrical version.
The Best Sci-Fi Movie of All Time Praised for “Real-Looking Space Scenes” by Expert
- The 2021 DC movie released on HBO Max was the director’s cut of 2017’s theatrical Justice League movie.
- “I appreciate that they love Zack’s work and we are very thankful for his many contributions to DC. We’re just so happy that he could bring his cut of the Justice League to life because that wasn’t in the plan until about a year ago. With that comes the completion of his trilogy,” she explained.
- Cinematographer Fabian Wagner said Snyder wanted to “get away from the stylized, desaturated, super-high contrast looks of other films in the franchise.”
- The film is scheduled for release on October 2, 2026, after a delay from its original October 2025 date.
- Snyder was expected to film scenes that Whedon re-wrote, and they were working together to meet Warner Bros.’ requests when Snyder’s daughter, Autumn Snyder, died in March 2017.
- That said, depending on how much Green Lantern VFX is involved in the series, it could require more post-production time, pushing its premiere into the summer.
As such, Zack Snyder's Justice League will most likely not be given a wide release in theaters. Having the DCEU continue in some form while the new DC Universe tries to cement itself would not work, as fans would be confused, and the baggage from the past universe's controversies would impact the DCU. Then David Corenswet's Superman will mark the first movie for the DCU in July 2025.

In December, Momoa was reported to be portraying Lobo in the film. In September, Matthias Schoenaerts joined the cast as the main villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills, and filming was expected to begin in January 2025 in the United Kingdom. Gillespie said he was immediately interested in directing the filming after reading the script and seeing Alcock's performance, as he understood the "tone and what to do with it". When Alcock was cast, filming was expected to begin in late 2024.

The film is scheduled for release on October 2, 2026, after a delay from its original October 2025 date. A Clayface movie focusing on one of Batman’s iconic justice League 2026 villains is set for release on September 11, 2026. Craig Gillespie was confirmed as director in May 2024, with the film scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, and filming set to begin in January 2025 in the UK.
Years Ago, This NBC Drama Series Rewrote The Rules Of Network Storytelling
In March 2024, a film centered on the Teen Titans team was announced to be in development, with Ana Nogueira writing the screenplay. The series has the potential to lead to Maridueña starring in a DCU film if it proves successful. Xolo Maridueña is confirmed to reprise his role as Blue Beetle, with the film’s director Ángel Manuel Soto and other key creatives serving as executive producers. An animated series focused on Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle is in development for the DCU, building off the DCEU film Blue Beetle but telling its own story. Announced in May 2022, the series is written by Christal Henry, who also serves as an executive producer alongside James Gunn and Peter Safran. I’m guessing they are ‘gunning’ (stupid pun intended) to do the same with The Authority – a group of misfit antiheroes who were actually a part of Wildstorm Comics before becoming a part of DC.
My Adventures with Superman Season 3 (TBA)
He concluded that it "may not be a great film, but it has the madness, strangeness and obsessiveness of a real work of art." In a more critical review, Bilge Ebiri of Vulture wrote the film "contains the best and worst of Zack Snyder," noting its existence as being a personal endeavor for Snyder. Gleiberman and Variety's Peter Debruge later ranked it as the eighth best film of 2021. Jenna Anderson from ComicBook.com, who rated the film a 4.5 out of 5, also praised the increased characterization, performances, and Snyder's filmmaking techniques, believing Snyder created the film out of love for both his daughter and fans. Robbie Collin of The Daily Telegraph awarded the film a full five stars, praising Holkenborg's score, action sequences, and characterization, which he felt was superior to the original. Rob Harvilla of The Ringer felt that the film is "A Zack Snyder film that 'critics enjoyed', or at least 'grudgingly appreciated'." He further opined both fans and critics "respect" the film due to the nature of its existence. According to The Hollywood Reporter, critics praised Snyder's direction and characterization, but criticized the film's length.
Following its opening weekend, view-tracking app Samba TV reported that 1.8 million American households had watched at least the first five minutes of the film between March 19–21 (only counting smart TVs, not devices). Snyder expressed his interest in screening his film in IMAX theaters once they were safe to re-open during the COVID-19 pandemic. Priya Dogra, president of WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific stated the film to be a "global phenomenon" during a presentation for HBO Max Europe. At the 2021 WarnerMedia Upfront, Warner Media declared the film was "a hit" Max original.
